History

Barnsley Recovery Steps has been delivering Drug & Alcohol Services for ages 18+ since April 2017.

Our service has continued to grow and develop constantly to deliver an offer that meets the needs of the local community.

In July 2024 we became an all age service, extending our offer to Children & Young People who need support around drugs and alcohol.

Our staff team has grown across the years and we now employ over 80 staff and have a number of volunteers supporting the service.

Partnerships

We work in partnership with many organisations across Barnsley to enable us to support those accessing our service around all areas affecting their life. We can support individuals to access specialist support for areas that may impact on their drug and alcohol use, through direct referral and/or collaborative working.

Our partnerships include (not inclusive) IDAS, BSARCS, Housing Options, Liaison & Diversion, National Probation Service, BDGH Alcohol Care Team, Creative Recovery, Social Care, Food Banks, GP’s

We have a formal partnership agreement with The Basement Recovery Project who deliver our groupwork programme and community activities offer, support individuals throughout and on an ongoing basis after their treatment episode.

We have a formal partnership agreement with South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust (SWYPT) and Social Care in our Integrated Recovery Team, offering support to individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use.
