We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Good Food Pantry, a new initiative in partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Barnsley Recovery Connections, a lived experience organisation dedicated to supporting people in recovery.
Our Good Food Pantry is located at The Recovery Hub on Crookes Street (McLintocks entrance) and will be open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
Barnsley’s Good Food Pantries are all about sustainable, affordable food access for local communities. They’re open to everyone – for just £4 each week, you can access high-quality, nutritious food. Our Pantry aims to specifically support the recovery community, offering affordable food options to individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug-related issues.
Councillor Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, shared her thoughts on the initiative: “In Barnsley, our aim is to help people live healthy, fulfilling lives by ensuring everyone has access to quality, affordable food. It’s fantastic to see another Good Food Pantry open, expanding our network to reach even more families. We’re grateful to Barnsley Recovery Steps and Barnsley Recovery Connections for their collaboration in bringing this valuable resource to our community.”
If you or someone you know needs support accessing the Pantry or help with alcohol or drug-related issues, please reach out to Barnsley Recovery Steps at 01226 779066 or email brs.referrals@waythrough.org.uk. Self-referrals can also be made through our website at www.barnsleyrecoverysteps.org.uk.
Together, let’s build a healthier, more resilient Barnsley community!
