It’s OK to Ask for Help: The Story Behind Barnsley Recovery Steps’ Ketamine Campaign
20th Nov 2024

Exciting News from Barnsley Recovery Steps!
We’re thrilled to share that our ketamine animation, “It’s OK to Ask for Help,” has been nominated for a BAFTA and selected for the prestigious London International Animation Festival! 🎉✨ This is a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by ketamine use, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the community.

A Campaign Built Around Your Needs
Earlier this year, Barnsley Recovery Steps launched the ketamine campaign with the help of a focus group made up of individuals who had firsthand experience with ketamine. The insights we gathered during these sessions were invaluable and led to the creation of a dedicated ketamine support group, which is constantly evolving to meet the specific needs of those who attend.

In addition to the group, we are proud to have established a ketamine clinic within the Barnsley Urology Department, offering tailored support for those who need it. Our goal is to create an environment where people can feel safe, understood, and supported.

You Asked, We Listened
The foundation of this campaign is based on the feedback we received from surveys you completed. We asked what support you needed, and we’ve worked hard to develop resources and services specifically designed around your responses. Whether you’re supporting a loved one or working directly with those affected by ketamine use, we’re here for you.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Jack, whose courage in sharing his personal story has helped shape this campaign and bring it to life. His journey of hope after struggling with ketamine is a testament to the power of support and understanding.

What’s Next?
As we continue to build on the success of the ketamine campaign, we’re excited to release more resources and materials in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates and be assured that we are always listening and adapting our services to better support you.

We couldn’t have achieved any of this without the incredible talent of Rosy Turner! From the very beginning, Rosy brought empathy, creativity, and a clear, brilliant vision to the project. We feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with her!

Together, we can break down the barriers and start important conversations.
