Start of Treatment
Annie was presented to the service with the request to support her to address her use of alcohol.

In Annie's experience, she would go out drinking excessively and couldn't stop. She reported that, after each episode, she would be unable to remember the night before which would lead to unsafe sexual encounters that had put her at risk

How did we help?

After Annie spoke to us about her troubles, we provided her with harm minimisation advice linked to these behaviours, and BBV screening to detect any bloodborne viruses.

X’s Feedback

Annie reported that she is in a much better place and was happy to get discharged, as she has achieved abstinence. She reports increased self-worth and self-belief and thanked the service for our input. She also stated that the different elements of the service combined are what enabled her success

Physical Health

The BBV results came back negative, and she was supported to access the sexual health clinics. Annie reported that her health was much better after she stopped drinking.

Mental Health

X reports feeling empowered, she is more confident and less anxious. Annie has engaged with BRS counselling and has worked on managing her emotions linked to her past trauma.

Her Relationships / Social network

Annie identified that she had several unhealthy relationships with friends, that she had drank with, and identified that they did not have her best interests at heart.

Annie went on to change these relationships and is forming new social networks around her mutual aid and employment.

Employment

Annie was referred to IPS (Individual Placement Support) which led her to secure a part time job that she found very rewarding.

As she had achieved short-term employment, Annie reports that she is feeling more confident to secure a more permanent place of work, and has an up-to-date CV. She continues to engage with IPS, following a discharge from Recovery Navigation.

Congratulations Annie, we are so proud of your recovery and hope for the best in your life
