Andrew started smoking cannabis at 14. He is now 17, turning 18 in December 2025.

Andrew would smoke up to 7 spliffs a day, buying an ounce to share with his mate and selling cannabis to make money.

Andrew has stated that, even before being referred to BRS, he was actively trying to reduce the amount of cannabis he consumed. As of joining, he had not smoked a THC vape in 3 weeks and even made a point that they were "disgusting"

Treatment

Andrew was placed into a mental health intervention and referred on to Branching Minds.

He was educated on cannabis’ possible effects on mental and physical health, and Educated around THC’s possible effects n mental and physical health.

Andrew was given a person-centred approach, using unconditional positive regard, non-judgemental and being congruent with him at all times

Physical Health

Since starting the treatment, Andrew has joined a gym and is enjoying going. His overall health has improved

Mental Health

Since starting treatment, Andrew’s mental health has improved substantially. He is more positive, has more motivation and his low moods and thoughts are less regular with better management when they do arise.

Andrew now believes he does not feel as though he needs any extra support regarding his mental wellbeing and fills his time with college and working with his uncle. He has a lot of drive and does see a future for himself

Andrew has had a few ‘rocky moments’ at home but also feels that things are getting better with his family.

He currently lives with his parents and has a girlfriend of 2 years which he visits regularly.

Andrew is currently working part time at 2 jobs and studying at college
