We are a free, confidential, and voluntary specialist service based in Barnsley, dedicated to supporting young people up to age 18 who are affected by drug or alcohol use, whether it’s their own or someone else’s. As part of Barnsley Recovery Steps, we provide one-on-one support and a safe space to talk.
Our service is designed to help young people in Barnsley reduce or prevent the harm that can come from drug and alcohol use. Our focus is on keeping you safe and supporting you in making the changes you want, whether that’s now or in the future.
We provide support at all stages, whether you’re looking for advice, feel you have a problem, want to cut down, or are ready to stop using altogether. Our help can be a one-time conversation or ongoing support, depending on your needs.
We understand that talking about drugs and alcohol can be difficult. That’s why we aim to make you feel comfortable and confident. We’ll meet you wherever you feel most at ease, whether that’s at your school, college, a youth centre, or even at home.
We also offer support for parents, carers, and professionals in Barnsley who work with young people. Whether you’re seeking advice or guidance, even if the young person isn’t ready to access our services yet, we’re here to help.
As part of Barnsley Recovery Steps, we collaborate with other professionals and community groups in Barnsley, offering targeted group sessions, training, and outreach services for identified groups.
We’re available Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. However, we’re flexible and can meet with young people at a time and place in Barnsley that works best for them.
SPACE is for Young People. This includes those between the ages of 10 and 18 years, providing you an outlet for you to access needed resources and support.
